MYANMA LAPHET THOKE, PICKLED GREEN TEA LEAF SALAD (September 24, 2007) |
We
would like to invite you to enjoy for a taste of one kind of Myanmar
traditional food, Laphet Thoke which means a pickled green tea leaf
salad. It is usually served at merit sharing ceremonies and weddings, and it is
also a traditional delicacy. It depicts friendship and hospitality. The tea leaves are picked From the Shan State. The flavorful leaves are
marinated in sesame or peanut oil, with the addition of fried garlic
slices, fried peanuts, sesame seeds and dried prawn.
Fresh green chili
is added by locals to spice up the taste. It can also be added sliced tomatoes or cabbage leaves. A pickled green tea
leaf salad is rich in mixed light sweet and bitter tastes. Street-side salad shops can be found throughout Yangon, where friends
sit and share their food while enjoying conversation and a cup of green
tea.

THE FIRST HORSE CART RACE OF MYANMAR (September

Bagan is one of the richest archaeological sites in Asia and a famous
tourist site of Myanmar. In Peak season, there will be held Myanmarfs
horse-cart race which is the first innovation that co-operate with horse
carts all over Myanmar.
This race is now the initiated competition that sophisticated from horse
cart race of Myanmar, and it will be managed by Myanmar Horse Riding
Association. The horse cart drivers all over Myanmar will compete in
that race.
If you will choose to visit Myanmar for your leisure time, we would like
to suggest to visit the most famous tourist destination, Bagan and not

THE PROCESSION OF BUDDHA TOOTH RELIC IN PAUNG TAE (September
12, 2007) |
We would like to give good and interesting
information about one of religious festivals of Myanmar, the procession
of Paung Tae Buddha Tooth Relic. Paung Tae is situated 143 miles (230km)
north of Yangon, takes about 5 hours drives.
There will be celebrated the 101st ritual ceremony of the
procession of Buddha Tooth Relic in Paung Tae. It is the biggest event
in Paung Tae and well known in Myanmar. This festival is held for 5 days
from the12th of the waxing moon to the first day after the
full moon day of Tawthalinn in Myanmar Calendar and it will begin from
the 23rd September until the 27th September in
this year.
On 24th September at 01:00PM, it will start to be round in
Paung Tae for paying homage to the Sacred Buddha Tooth Relic within
diamond casket that will be placed on the royal elephant with religious
organization; the Dhama Songs singers follow the procession.
On 25th September you can be originally seen the Sacred
Buddha Tooth Relic by opening from the diamond casket till 10:00 PM.

THE FIRST THERAVADA ASSOCIATION IN THE WORLD, THE
INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ABHIDHAMA (September
8, 2007) |
We would like to introduce to you a new information
for the person who deeply interested in Buddhism.
The Abhidhama course will be lectured in English language at
international Institute of Abhidhama. The Abhidama is one of the
Buddhafs Scriptures.
The International Institute of Abhidhama intends to distribute and let
know widely about the Theravada Buddhism and Buddha Abhidhama all over
the world. It is established to sustain and share the belief of the
Buddhafs teaching. This first Theravada association in the world will
teach about Theravada Abhidhama in stages as beginner, advance and for
those who attended this course will be awarded certificate. For the
Further study, they can be involved in the researching field of
Theravada Buddhism thoroughly. At the meantime, the Institute is
implementing for the works of translating Abhidhama from Burmese to
English Language and course studying. @
The Professor of the International Institute of Abhidhama is Sayadaw Dr.
Nandamarlar Thewontha and the assistant Professor is U Mya Than who he
had retired.

CUSTARD APPLE SEASON (September
4, 2007) |
We would like to give information about one of Myanmar seasonal fruit
You can see Custard Apples abundantly everywhere in Myanmar since this
is the peak yielding period of the Custard Apple season. Custard Apple
is the seasonal fruit which bear only once in a year. Custard Apple
season starts from August to around October.
Custard Apple is as the same size of apple but that is a kind of cluster
of encoding seed with flesh. The taste of Custard Apple is honey sweet.
Whatfs more, children play with the seed after they have eaten.
There can be seen other seasonal fruits together with Custard Apple,
such as mangoes, mangoesteens, rambutans, Myanma-grapes, apples,
durians, etc. Custard Apples are also abundantly available in fruit
market with reasonable price.
